  • Smart Meters to Keep Your Home Dry: Many Florida homes are in flood zones, and all of us have dealt with localized flooding during major storms, especially when sewer systems get overloaded. Flo by Moen is a device which can be installed on your main water line, relying on machine learning to track typical water usage. If it detects any irregular activity, such as a leak, in your water system, it notifies you by phone. A running toilet or leaky faucet can be costly and possibly cause damage. Flo will turn the water off if needed.
  • Take Air Fryers off the Counter: Up until now, air fryers have come in the form of countertop convection ovens. However, homeowners can now get a gas, electric or induction oven range with built in air fryer. The oven comes equipped with a tray for whatever you want to prepare – crispy chicken, french fries – cooked to perfection.
  • Sink Dishwashers: Those who live alone or in smaller condos or apartments, you may not have access to a dishwasher – or you may not need to run it very often. This tiny sink dishwasher scrubs about ten items at a time while using minimal water. Even with only about 1.6 gallons a cycle, the force is powerful and the water reaches 160 degrees. Simply add a few drops of dishwashing liquid and you are ready to go.
  • SuperSpeed Laundry Machines: Ok, these machines are not necessarily smart, but they can claim speed as their superpower. You could complete an entire load of laundry, washing and drying, in just 30 minutes – making these some of the most efficient appliances in your home.
  • Emptying Drier Dishes: No one likes unloading wet dishes, but it seems many traditional dishwashers aren’t able to dry their contents very efficiently. New dishwashers by both Bosch and Frigidaire, however, have taken on the challenge. The Bosch 800 series dishwashers will include mineral zeolite – which absorbs 30% of their weight in moisture – to guarantee dry dishes each cycle. Zeolite also heats up as it gets wet, which not only draws water away from your dishes, but warms and dries them as well. Taking a different tack, Frigidaire models utilize convection, which uses a fan to circulate heat, to make sure dishes are completely dry.
  • Smarter Bathroom Technology: We recently posted about bathroom renovations, and these smart features will make a luxurious room even better. You can opt for voice or motion technology to turn the lights on for you (don’t worry, its soft light that is easy on your eyes); you can also instruct Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri to start or stop the shower, and even to get it to just the right temperature. Yes, its a bit extravagant – but you deserve it.
